I want to take part in Desenfaixa’t, what do I have to do?

It's free for castellers! If your colla wants to participate, they'll have to <contact-us>contact us</contact-us> directly to arrange the donation. Additionally, if you want to individually and voluntarily donate to support the International Colles with their challenges, you can do so in our <paypal>PayPal campaign</paypal>.

Why do you ask for a PayPal donation? Do I have to pay to participate?

In order for us to be able to retrieve your activities from Strava for Desenfaixa’t, you’ll need to leave both checkboxes ticked in the permissions screen. We will only fetch your name and information related to your activities in order to calculate your score during the competition, we will do nothing else with the information.If you are still having trouble, check out our social media platforms, where we have shared "Steps to follow" videos that will help you successfully complete all the steps!

When I follow the link my colla provided I end up in a screen that says “Error”, why is that?

Once you have followed the link your colla provided you and you saw a success message, you should be in! You should also be able to see <profile>your own profile</profile>, which will contain your activities once you start registering them. If you want to ensure everything is ok, you can go to <strava-settings>My Apps in Strava</strava-settings>, Desenfaixa’t will be displayed as one of the authorised apps if you are correctly enrolled.

How do I know if I am correctly enrolled for Desenfaixa’t?

You will only see yourself in the ranking once you have done 1 eligible activity, make sure you check out <how-it-works>how they work</how-it-works>!

I have enrolled in Desenfaixa't but I haven’t done any activity yet, I cannot see myself in the ranking, why is that?

As every colla has a different number of castellers, we divide the total number of hours by the castellers that participate. This way we make the competition between colles with very different numbers of castellers more even.

Why is the total amount of hours in the colla ranking not the sum of the individual castellers?

Due to limitations in our infrastructure and services, it may take up to 1h for the activity to show up in the ranking and profile. Also, only activities specified in <how-it-works>How it works</how-it-works> will count towards your progress in the ranking and there are rules on their eligibility. For example, speed is checked for some of the activities, and we will discard the very slow (e.g. if you walk but you registered the activity as running) or very fast ones (e.g. if you cycle but you registered the activity as running). We consider this goes against the spirit of the event, so please register your activity types correctly! You will be able to see your activities in <profile>your profile</profile>.

I have recently done an activity but my time in the ranking has not been updated, why is that?

It could be due to one of the following reasons:<list><item>You started the activity before joining Desenfaixa’t using the colla link. These do not count, sorry!</item><item>Your activity type is not eligible or it does not <how-it-works>comply with our rules</how-it-works>, make sure you check them out!</item><item>Very rarely, your event will only get to us more than 1 day later. Please bear with us, and if it definitely does not show up and you are absolutely sure your activities comply with all the above, contact us.</item></list>

I have done an activity more than 1 day ago and it does not show up in the ranking, why is that?

Your device needs to be compatible with Strava and be connected to it. You can find out both if your device is compatible with Strava and the best way to connect it in <strava-sync>the Strava support page</strava-sync>.Also, if you are doing an activity for which we require heart rate information, you need to allow Strava to collect this information in order for us to receive it. You can check and enable it in the <strava-perms>Strava Data Permissions</strava-perms>.

I am doing activities with my smartwatch/Fitbit/Garmin/other but they don’t appear in the ranking, why is that?

Ranking updates

Most of the Strava activities work using the GPS in your phone. Because indoor activities don’t require you to move, they will be reported as having no distance covered and no speed, so they won’t be taken into account. In order to record indoor activities, you will have to <strava-sync>connect your exercise machine (bike turbo trainer, rowing machine, etc.) with Strava</strava-sync>. If your machine cannot be connected but you have a heart rate monitor, you should consider recording your activity as a Workout instead (and comply with <how-it-works>Workout rules</how-it-works>!).

I have done an indoor activity and it did not count towards my time, why is that?

Unfortunately, that’s not possible this time. For the first edition of Desenfaixa’t we kept it small and simple for everyone, which unfortunately meant that some activities had to be left out. We have explored adding some other activities, such as Skiing, but due to the difficulty in tracking them correctly we have not been able to add more. We’ll make sure to continue testing more activities and trying to take them into account for future editions of Desenfaixa’t and make it even better!

I usually do an activity that’s not in the list, could you make it count for the rankings?

Nope, only activities recorded after joining Desenfaixa’t via the colla link will be taken into account, sorry!

Are my activities eligible if I did them before joining Desenfaixa’t?

Strava allows you to add activities manually but these won’t be counted in for Desenfaixa’t, sorry!

Can everybody who has signed up in your colla do at least 1 activity for 15 minutes this week? Easy peasy lemon squeezy, right? Your colla will earn 1 point if all its members meet the target. Come on, let's get started with Desenfaixa’t!

We want to see how you work out! We want to see your training outfits, tracksuits, swimsuits, be it with or without Covid, on your own, in a group, with your pets… We want your best photos showing off while practising sports! The 5 most original photos will earn 1 point for their colles.

Even during the pandemic we can go on a fun journey! What would you think if we went from Paris to London? That's the distance Castellers de Paris had to travel for the first International Diada in London: 476 km. Do you think your colla can accumulate that distance among all the participants to earn 1 point? Each step and each stroke count, do your best!

This week we want to test your creativity. We want to see your most original route shapes. Is it a flower? Sagrada Familia? A fried egg? Anything is possible! The 5 most original Strava route shapes will earn 1 point for their colles.

We are almost there, this is the last challenge! As we all know, in castells all the positions are important in order to successfully crown them. That’s why we want your colla to record different activity types for at least 15 minutes each among all the participants in order to earn 1 point. The number of activities we want each colla to do depends on the amount of its participants. Come on, let’s get that final teamwork push!

How it works

The competition starts on the 6th of February and finishes on the 19th of February.

It's free for castellers! As it's a fundraising event, we will ask for a €200 donation per colla to sign up.

If your colla is not enrolled, <contact>contact us</contact>! During the competition, we will use Strava to keep track of your activities. If you don't have it already, <download>download the app</download> and sign up, it's free!

Every Monday we will publish on social media (Instagram, Twitter and Facebook) the results of the current ranking and on the 20th of February we will announce the winners. If your colla starts late, or is not ranking the best, don’t worry, you can still win challenges!
